This piece reflects my thoughts on culture, discrimination, and beauty.  Many different races were used as references in order to create this stunning painting of a gorgeous woman.  The beauty of this multicultural woman represents the beauty found in each culture. More importantly, it represents the beauty that can be created when cultures come together, not only to have children but, to grow and learn from each other.  The loosely painted and multicoloured skin speaks volumes about the importance of skin colour and that it is in fact not important at all.  The colour seen behind the wisps of her hair as well as the iridescence of her eyes (better seen in person) represent her essence. Thus, her beauty is not derived from the colour of her skin, eyes, or lips … it is found within her multifaceted spirit.
