---> STAGE 1: Watercolour Under Painting <---

I've had a lot of inquiries about the progress of my beauty series so I thought I would give you beautiful girls an update after every stage. As many of you already know, this series is all about inner beauty versus exterior beauty. The more I think about this concept the more complex it gets. I began thinking about how we "make" ourselves beautiful. Most of us, if not all of us, have a regimented routine that we use to "beautify" ourselves. We brush our teeth, shower, do our hair, and then our makeup, etc, etc. I'm sure we all have different stages and do them in different orders but for the most part women have a "beautifying" routine that mimics the assembly lines of a factory. In order to mock this stage like process I thought I would use the same process to create this 36 piece series. The very first stage of this process was to paint all 36 watercolour under paintings based on the colours you felt best represented your personality or inner beauty. So here they are! I hope you all enjoy them! If you have the time please leave me a comment at the bottom of this post as I would LOVE to hear from all of you!

Thanks again to all of you beautiful women for your kindness and support!

!!!::: My First Unveiling :::!!!

I am so excited to share these photos with you! On Friday December 17, 2010 I had my first unveiling at Mitchell Sandham Inc. My piece "Brilliant Retropspect" was shown to the staff for the very first time and it received amazing reviews! The piece was done in a unique style unlike my usual work. It combines the styles of the modern era by incorporating bright colours and geometric shapes as well as the contemporary style of rich metalics and elegance. Here are some pictures from the event!

This piece is truly a landmark in my artistic career. It is the largest scale and highest priced piece I have ever sold! I am incredibly in debt to Peter Mitchell and Ryan Mitchell for giving me the chance of a lifetime. They commissioned me to paint this piece to go into the reception area of Mitchell Sandham Inc. Having one of my pieces in a business place is quite the accomplishment and I could not be more excited! Thank you Ryan and Peter!

-[- Saint Irene's Atlantis -]-

oil painting, santorini painting, travel artist, original artwork, original paintings, custom art, commission art

This is a recently completed piece entitled "Saint Irene's Atlantis" which was created as a commissioned item for Shannon Roberts. When the commission was first set, Shannon was planning to celebrate her wedding day at a Greek venue and therefore wanted a little piece of Greece in her home to remind her of the special occasion. After much research and discussion, the beautiful, colourful, and tranquil scene of Santorini, Greece was the obvious choice! The piece is done with oils on canvas and was a time consuming and passion driven process. I decided to title the piece "Saint Irene's Atlantis" after doing some research on the location. The name "Santorini" actually translates to Saint Irene. It also turned out that many people believe that the Island of Santorini is the true Atlantis from the legends. I found this to be very interesting because the two concepts contradict each other. A catholic saint versus a mythical underwater world. Thus, I had to represent this in the name of the piece. I could not be happier with the results and the owners tell me they feel the same way!

Again, If anyone is interested in commissioning a piece please e-mail me at Info@MalindaPrudhomme.com. Please continue scrolling down for progress pictures!
