Art Katatlyst Magazine's 1 Year Anniversary Party

On Saturday May 2nd 2015, I had the pleasure of spending the night with Alexandria Karakis (Artist behind Fotoflares and creator of the ETA Awards) and artist Al Barazi at Art Katalyst Magazine's 1 Year Anniversary Party which took place at May. It's a terrifying and challenging endeavor setting out to publish an art magazine but they worked through an entire year of dedication and put out some truly powerful issues. It was an honour to have a small part in the evening; the opportunity to show my piece "True Beauty" 'Jenny Blackbird'. But it was also lovely just to watch the true joy of these ladies reveling in their amazing accomplishment. Big congrats to everyone involved with Art Katalyst! Here's to many more years!

1st Place - EVERYONE who participates, no matter their skill, will go into the draw for first place - WINNER can choose THREE of their favourite 8"x10" prints which will be shipped to them free of charge. 

2nd & 3rd Place - My TOP FIVE personal favourites will be posted for my fans to vote on! The artwork with the most VOTES gets to choose TWO of their favourite 8"x10" prints. The artwork with the second most votes will get to choose ONE of their favourite 8"x10" prints. All will be shipped to them free of charge.   

You can do as LITTLE or as MUCH as you want to my drawing "Ambiguous Beauty" in order to make it uniquely yours. ANY medium can be used! Feel free to open it in Paint and remove things you don't want! 

Here are some ideas to get you going ... 

1) Choose whatever nationality you wish

2) Maker her into a man

3) Adjust facial features as desired

4) Change or add jewelry

5) Shorten her hair or add more

6) Make her into a fantasy or sci-fi character

7) Give her a detailed background 

8) Add piercings or tattoos

9) Make her look like someone you know

10) Or enjoy filling her in exactly how she is

On Sunday Darren and I went on an adventure to find a copy of the newest issue of HOLR Magazine. This one was a special one because I (my actual self) would be featured in the national magazine painting my new artwork "True Beauty" 'Delena Providence'. Thinking of past experiences, where it took many days for the magazine to actually hit the shelves after being released, I wasn't overly stressed about getting a copy. BUT I should have been! We tried the famous Eaton's Center first and they had one rather beat-up copy left! I snagged it fast (pictured above)! I asked the clerk if they had any others and she happily informed me they had all been sold. She even called the other locations to see if they had any left (I wasn't a fan of having a beat-up copy) but they had all sold out as well! Absolutely crazy! While I would have liked a crisper copy, I am beyond excited that all those copies were sold and thus all those people will see me and my artwork! Just awesome! Seeing myself in a national magazine was just completely overwhelming. I'm not the typical lady you'd see in a fashion magazine; being a chubby comfy kind of gal; so I give HOLR major props on diversifying what they promote as beauty and talent. In fact, they asked me to pose and dress "exactly as I am" without feeling the need to adhere to any social standard of what a woman in a magazine should look like. I LOVE that! If you get a chance please check your local Chapters or Indigo for a copy and be sure to take a picture with it/my page! You would put one big smile on my face if you did! :D
