For the past couple of weeks I've been discussing and updating you on my art piece for Plan Canada's 'Because I Am A Girl' art exhibition "The Malala Effect". Though the opening night on March 6th will be a private viewing, Plan Canada has allotted two days for the public to come in and admire the show. It is going to be spectacular so if you have the time it would be worth a visit. :)

A month ago I was asked to take part in a project being put on by Plan Canada as part of the "Because I Am A Girl" initiative. If you're not aware, "Because I Am A Girl" is a global project to end gender inequality, promote girls' rights, and lift millions of girls - and everyone around them - out of poverty. As the majority of my artwork focuses on female inner beauty and strength, you can imagine how excited I was to have been chosen for this project. :)
"Because I Am A Girl" will soon be launching a new book entitled "Everyday Is Malala Day". The book is inspired by Malala Yousafzai who is a young Pakistani girl that was shot in 2012 by the Taliban for openly fighting for girls rights to education. Thankfully she survived the terrible incident and has since been a symbol to girls all over the world who believe in the power of being educated.
To celebrate the book launch, as well as National Women's Day, Plan Canada has decided to hold an art exhibition, "The Malala Effect", that is inspired by the book and by Malala's strength. They have chosen a group of artists and have assigned each of us a page of the book to pull our inspiration and create an original artwork for the show. Once the show is complete each piece will be donated to a school in order to inspire students to engage in their education.
