This piece entitled “Marilyn In Abstract” began with a small simple abstract painting completed in 2010.  When I had completed the abstract coloured squares I felt the piece did not exude my usual style.  I generally portray the beauty that can be found in our world and with this in mind I quickly decided to incorporate one of the most beautiful women in history, Marilyn Monroe.  Using my high quality homemade wax paint, also known as encaustic paint, I began to add a textured layer that would portray the luxurious Marilyn (texture better seen in image below). It is truly a lovely piece that brings together modern abstract, vintage beauty, and natural mediums.
