I officially completed my new website last night! It only took me around 2 weeks to complete which is quite the difference from my first website which took me 3 months! I'm so happy with the way it turned out and I definitely feel it looks professional. I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think! Please feel free to comment and please let me know if you run across any issues. :)

Another Website Building Adventure!
I am happy to announce that I will be building a whole new website! I have learned a lot about CSS and HMTL over this past year and feel I am ready to give my website a lovely new makeover! All of my edits and pages will be built live as my existing website seems to be interfering with the new one. BUT this gives us a great opportunity to communicate through the process and see the new pages as they are built! Fun right!? Join me on my Facebook Page to take part in the adventure!

~ Curvy Beauties ~
"Curvy Beauties"
January 2013
Oil Paint on Canvas
6" x 12"/each
I am very happy to announce that I have finished my new series "Curvy Beauties". This series was created in order to celebrate the beauty of curvy women. Unfortunately we live in a time where the media is constantly pushing thin women into the spotlight in hopes of brainwashing us into thinking that only thin women are beautiful and sexy. I believe this is the case because many corporations have a lot to gain from women with low self-esteem. Women who feel poorly about themselves are more likely to buy more makeup, hair dye, gym memberships, weight loss gimmicks, corsetry, and so on. My ideal world would be one in which ALL women of ALL shapes and sizes feel happy and confident about themselves. Thus I took the opportunity to portray just how beautiful and sexy lusciously large women can be.

Opening Reception: January 18th @ 7pm
WHERE:
White Water Gallery
143 Main Street West
North Bay, ON

I am very excited to announce that I will be exhibiting my piece "Modern Warrior Beauty" at the White Water Gallery in North Bay. I recently became a member of the White Water Gallery and because of this I am able to exhibit my work in the Black Water Art exhibition. The reason I am most excited about being in this show is that it will be the first time exhibiting my work in North Bay since finishing my art education. And not only is this exhibition in North Bay but it is taking place in the White Water Gallery which was the first gallery I ever exhibited in and was the gallery in which I won my first award. Being in this show definitely brings back fond memories and I truly wish I could make it to the opening night in person.
I believe it is going to be an awesome exhibition and I hope that my friends and followers in the North Bay area will drop in to see all of the beautiful creations. :)

This two piece series was inspired by the cover art on JRR Tolkien's novels "The Silmarillion" and "Unfinished Tales". Throughout my
life I have found comfort in JRR Tolkien’s writing and I wanted to portray this
comfort in an abstract way. Starting
with a rough sketch of the cover art symbols, I then allowed my creativity to
run free while keeping the Hobbit lifestyle and sensibility in mind. For me, true comfort is found in the life of
a Hobbit. I honestly believe that good
food, drink, friends, a pipe full of long bottom leaf, and love is all that is needed
for a happy life. These simple comforts
should be cherished and we sometimes forget this in our modern busy world.
Using more than 20 traditional mediums, many gathered from my travels around
the world, my homemade encaustic (wax) paint, and antique buttons, I hope to
spread the calm that comes with a life filled with simple comforts.
Please continue for more photos. :)

~& Marilyn In Abstract &~
"Marilyn In Abstract"
December 2012
Mixed Media on Canvas
(Acrylic Paint and Homemade
Encaustic (Wax) Paint)
12" x 12"
SOLD
8" x 10" Prints
8" x 10" Prints
$20.00 CAD
This piece
entitled “Marilyn In Abstract” began with a small simple abstract
painting completed in 2010. When I had completed the
abstract coloured squares I felt the piece did not exude my usual style. I generally portray the beauty that can be
found in our world and with this in mind I quickly decided to incorporate one
of the most beautiful women in history, Marilyn Monroe. Using my high quality homemade wax paint,
also known as encaustic paint, I began to add a textured layer that would
portray the luxurious Marilyn (texture better seen in image below). It is truly a lovely piece that brings together
modern abstract, vintage beauty, and natural mediums.
Please note that although this piece has sold I would gladly create others similar to it. If you enjoy this piece and would like one of your own please contact me at Info@MalindaPrudhomme.com.
