I am one lucky artist! I truly have the best fans and supporters out there. One such fan discovered my work through Etsy and, liking what he saw, decided to offer me a commission I will never forget! He was fond of 1930-40's Pin-Up art as well as the burlesque style and asked if I could combine these ideas into a representation of his beautiful wife. He said he wanted her to look at it and "see her as her inner burlesque queen". I truly believe this project was destined for me. I was made to create it. Not only was it a piece that featured a naturally beautiful woman but one that would celebrate her beauty and make her feel special. How many husbands are this adoring? I was touched. 

My lovely patron sent me many photos of his beautiful wife so that I could gain an understanding of her facial features and shape. Using a variety of resources I created this luxurious composition. He absolutely loved it and we decided it would look amazing in a sepia palette. I'm so thrilled with the results and I'm excited to share close up photos of the details! Keep scrolling to see them! 

My Art Featured In LD Henriquez' Poetic Video

When LD Henriquez contacted me to take part in her new masterpiece "Wanderlustful" I was thrilled. She explained her project beautifully and sent me a copy of her poem. I connected with it instantly. To me it expressed my inner desire for travel. For seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, and learning new histories. Travel is something I literally crave and I felt like LD's poem reflected that feeling perfectly and beautifully. Make sure to hit play! It had been too long since I'd created a pet portrait. In fact the only other animal portraits I had ever done was another oil painting (one of my very first portraits) back in 2009 and a charcoal drawing in 2010. I knew my skills had grown quite a bit since then so I was excited to see what I could do with beautiful Grigia. When Grigia passed away her human parents decided they would like a painting to commemorate her life. Being a fellow cat mama I completely understood and was delighted to capture Grigia; which means "grey" in Italian. Her plush fur took days to layer in but the final results are better than I could have imagined. I'm so thrilled with the results of this piece and am glad that the couple will be happy, remembering their adorable Grigia, when they look at my painting.

Back in March I received a call from a lovely woman wondering if I could create some simple pencil portraits of her husbands grandparents.  She had already had her grandparents drawn by another artist but that artist wasn't doing portraits any longer.  I was happy to do this little project for her, it was a treat. The couple loved their portraits and bought prints to give to their family members. What a lovely keep sake, don't you think?

Missy/Ink Magazine's "Missy Of The Moment" Malinda Prudhomme

I cannot believe I'm typing these words but .... I've been featured in Missy/Ink Magazine's "Art Issue" as their 'Missy Of The Moment'!!! The feature has been in the works since September 2013 when Missy/Ink's editor-in-chief Bella Rouge asked me to submit my work. I generally stay very positive about my art career and all that comes with that but sometimes my mind gets a bit anxious and pessimistic.  So over the months, from September to now, I often battled with extreme excitement and then extreme wariness. I didn't want to get my hopes up.  Being published in a magazine sold at Chapters and Indigo stores across Canada was a big dream of mine and it just seemed too good to be true. Well folks ... it is good and it is TRUE! I am so excited and full of emotions, I can't even describe it. I could not wait to walk into my favourite Chapters location (Richmond and John - Toronto - Shown above) and pick up a magazine with MY ARTWORK IN IT! With my heart all a flutter I did just that yesterday and I am still in awe. I love this magazine so much as they too focus on portraying a wide variety of beautiful women.  It is truly an honour to have any association with this team and being featured by them is beyond an honour. Thank you so much Missy/Ink! The feature is AWESOME!
