Pushing Past Familiar Sights
$150 CAD
"Pushing Past Familiar Sights"
April 2016
Acrylic Paint, Pencil
and Pen on Canvas
20" x 24"
On April 16th 2016 I took part in a 1 hour speed painting ART SHOWDOWN at &Company Resto Bar in Mississauga. I did two practice runs throughout the week so I had an idea of what I wanted to do. I decided to do the painting on an angle so that it could be hung square or askew. I didn't place but I am very pleased with the results of this piece. Strangely I felt like I had so much time to spare! I got my eyelashes in precisely and put tons of detail in the eye colour. I even had time to include purple and green pen in the eyes! What a blast! I received lots of kind compliments and felt really good about the whole experience. :)

Seeing A Challenge And Facing It
$100 CAD
"Seeing A Challenge And Facing It"
April 2016
Acrylic Paint, Pencil
and Pen on Canvas
16" x 20"
I did a couple of live 1 hr speed paintings in preparation for April 16th 2016's ART SHOWDOWN! This was my first attempt and I'm quite pleased with it. I decided to call it "Seeing A Challenge And Facing It". My work generally takes days, weeks, even months at times, so to create a piece in only 1 hour was quite the challenge. Not to mention, at the last minute we were told we would no longer be allowed to use references which I usually work from to create my pieces. The project was daunting but sometimes challenges can teach you something if you face them with confidence. I did just that and learned that I could create a stunning eye off the top of my head and in such a short time. I hope you like it!

"Seeing A Challenge And Embracing It"
April 2016
Acrylic Paint, Pencil
and Pen on Canvas
12" x 16"
In preparation for April 16th 2016's ART SHOWDOWN I did a couple of live 1 hr speed paintings. My first attempt went surprisingly well so I was feeling excited to create the 2nd attempt. I decided to call this piece "Seeing A Challenge And Embracing It" because I was feeling more confident this time around. I love the soft flesh tones and interesting angle of the eye.
