o0o Restless In Wonderment o0o

mixed media art, bamboo art, bamboo painting, mixed media artist, beauty art

I am very excited to share with you my newest original series, "Restless In Wonderment"!  The meaning behind this series lies in the fact that it has been quite some time since I have had a normal night’s sleep.  It seems that my mind is constantly thinking of wonderful ideas and images for new art pieces.  Throughout the day I often "zone out" and then quickly write notes and sketches in my sketch book.  It is an exhilarating experience.  Yet even after a long day, and some time well spent reading a book, I close my eyes and see colours and images come together.

This series is a reflection of the past few months in which I have spent long days and restless nights in wonderment of all the beautiful creations my mind concocts. Sleepless nights are frustrating but the beauty my mind attracts makes me feel alive and reminds me that I am so lucky to be able to constantly consider my art as opposed to the stresses other people often ponder.  It is a sign that I am living a truly peaceful life.

Beautiful Baby Portraits

portrait artist, baby portrait, baby art, portrait painting, oil painting

It is so incredibly fulfilling to be able to paint the adorable features of a beautiful little baby.  The piece on the left is entitled "Libby" and was a portrait I painted in 2009.  Recently I was given the opportunity to paint "Ian" on the right which is the younger brother of Libby.  Both of these baby portraits are just adorable!

I would absolutely love to paint a portrait of your beautiful child or grand child!  Both of these portraits were fairly small (8" x 11") and cost approximately $200.00 (depending on the amount of detail the image given requires).  The size of the portrait is completely based on your desire and the image is of your choosing.  Please contact me if your are interested in commissioning a portrait or if you require further details.

Hey Gotye! You need a new artistc idea for an upcoming video? I'm your girl :)

It has literally been MONTHS since I've wanted to make this post but with the new website and commissions it seems I've lost track of time.  Is it really June already? Oh my.

I couldn't be happier for Wally De Backer.  He has truly become a phenomena here in North America, but before there was all the hype, Darren and I came across this video, "Somebody That I Used To Know", through some good ol' YouTube surfing.  I was just BLOWN AWAY.  What an amazing way to bring two forms of art together!  This beautiful song is perfectly matched with this simple yet lovely abstract art.  It is truly my favourite video of all time ... and even though I tend to not agree with the masses when it comes to much of the arts ... I don't believe I'll be changing my mind about this guy anytime soon.

Upon further investigation of my new favourite artist I found that Wally uses both beautiful and original forms of visual art in each of his videos.  It is really so nice to see both musical art and visual art come together so seamlessly.

Does anyone know if he creates his artistic ideas on his own? If not then I send a shout out to Wally!  I would die for the chance at pitching a future artistic video concept or cover art!  An up-and-coming artists dream, really.  :)

Here are some of my other favourite videos and songs by Gotye.

My Adorable Nieces and Nephews

I am so incredibly fortunate to have four beautiful/healthy Nieces and Nephews.  Though Darren and I live in Toronto, whereas our families live in Sudbury, we still find so much joy in viewing photos and videos of our adorable little munchkins.  So, when my sister-in-law Laura asked if I would paint a portrait of Ian (the little cutie shown above) I was incredibly excited!  It's not hard to find inspiration in that adorable face!

When Libby, Ian's big sister, was about the same age I painted a portrait of her as a Christmas gift for her parents.  I was so happy with the results and still find it is one of my most beautiful portraits.  I am hoping to achieve the same results with this new portrait of Ian.  I will keep you all updated on the final results!

Awesome New Band ~ Fever City

As an artist it is always nice to see other artists live out their passions.  This past weekend I had the opportunity to see some TRUE artists perform and I was not disappointed.  The new Toronto based modern funk rock band, Fever City, put on their first show at the Smiling Buddha.  Every single member of this band - Chris Richard, Jason Johnston, Gil Paul, and Dave Horst - is a talented musician and they come together to make truly soul wrenching music.  Their songs are so catchy I have been singing them ever since!

Please support this up-and-coming band by viewing their videos and "liking" their facebook page by clicking HERE.

O~ Art & Design At Its Best In Dublin, Ireland ~O

I actively follow a few interesting blogs as I realize how important this can be to bloggers.  Today I came across an awesome post about the Dublin creative agency, Boys and Girls.  They built their receptionists desk to make a statement about their firm and playfully welcome clients into their offices. The desk is held up with oversized Jenga blocks on one side and helium balloons on the other.

If this excites the child in you like it does me then definitely check out their LEGO boardroom table. By clicking the link provided you'll be able to watch them building it!

Hope you enjoy!
