---> STAGE 2: 2/3 Face Drawings <---

The last week and a half has been dedicated to completing my second batch of portraits for my "Beauty Series" as I am really trying to get this 36 piece series complete.  I definitely think the time and effort will be worth it once they are all completed.

I have now completed 24 out of 36 portraits that will make up the Stage 2 of this series.  12 more to go! For Stage 2 I used a 2H pencil, an HB pencil, and a 3B pencil to draw on the faces. I chose pencil as my medium for this stage because it gives the faces a faded, almost ghostly look. This will help me portray that true female beauty is found in ones personality and character, not external beauty. However, the portrait is still the focal point of each piece as the image was chosen by each individual woman as the photo THEY feel they look beautiful in.

I hope you enjoy them!  Please leave a comment if you have the time. :)

"Prestigious Professions of the Past" in the Mayworks Sudbury Exhibition

Mayworks Sudbury Festivsal - Art Exhibition - Malinda Prud'homme

I am incredibly excited to announce that my series "Prestigious Professions of the Past" will be exhibited in the Mayworks Sudbury Juried Exhibiton.  As some of you may know, the series was inspired by this amazing festival that brings light to the struggles of working people and artists.  I had high hopes of being accepted into this show and am so proud to say that, even though only one to two pieces per artist was the limit, all FOUR of my pieces have been accepted by the Mayworks Sudbury Art Jurers!  The exhibition will take place on May 3rd and 4th at the Royal Canadian Legion in Minnow Lake.  Please show your support by visiting the show and please share any photos you may take.

I would like to take this opportunity to send out a special thanks to Nicole Beaulieu who suggested I submit my work to the show.  She is an amazing supporter of my work and I would not be a part of this exhibiton if it were not for her.  Thanks Nickie!

"Arnold Schwarzenegger"

Pencil, Vine Charcoal, and Charcoal Pencil
on Stonehenge Paper
16" x 20"

This drawing was commissioned by my father, Gilles Prud'homme, and is a full length portrait of the famous bodybuilder, actor, and Governor of California; Arnold Shwarzenegger. As a child, Arnold was my fathers idol which is the reason why he commissioned the piece.  After researching images and other drawings of Arnold I honestly feel that this drawing turned out beautifully.  For progress photos please continue ...

Offering Prints

Hello Everyone!  For a couple of months I have been toying with the idea of offering prints of my work.  They would be accurate copies of my original pieces but in a smaller size (8.5" x 11" or smaller).  I would use either a good quality photo paper or art paper (I haven't quite figured this part out yet).  They could be purchased at a fraction of the cost of an original piece and could be easily framed.  I'm hoping that by offering prints those who cannot afford original pieces may still be able to enjoy my artwork.  The cost for a print would range from $15 to $30.  What do you think?  Your opinion is really valuable to me so please let me know if purchasing a print would interest you or if you think it's a good idea.  Thank you!
